MET-Chem, Inc. offers a full range of NFPA-certified Marine Chemist services to help customers maintain safe working conditions and meet applicable requirements — at any stage of your project.

MET-Chem, Inc. performs gas-free inspections and issues Marine Chemist Certificates in accordance with NFPA® 306, Standard for the Control of Gas Hazards on Vessels.

Marine Chemist Certificates document critical information from each inspection, including the survey date and time, test results, limits of detection, spaces inspected, and specific precautions required to maintain safe conditions and keep the certificate valid.

Certificates also identify important safety designations, including:

Our inspections and certifications help identify potential atmospheric hazards and establish the conditions and precautions necessary for safe vessel entry, maintenance, repair, and hot work.

Inertion involves filling tanks or other enclosed or hollow structures with an inert gas to eliminate the risk of ignition from flammable gases or combustible materials during hot work.

In many situations, inerting can be one of the quickest and most cost-effective methods for achieving a Safe for Hot Work designation. Depending on the project, inerting may require less time, expense, and effort than cleaning a space or filling it with water.

STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS

MET-Chem, Inc. specializes in providing National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)-certificated Marine Chemist services. Some of our environmental and safety services include visual inspections, atmospheric testing, and issuance of Marine Chemist Certificates, consultations, inertions, and specialized training for confined space entry and Shipyard Competent Persons. Our goal is to provide knowledgeable, professional, and prompt service to protect and preserve life, health, property, and the environment in the maritime industry. The NFPA-certified Marine Chemists of MET-Chem, Inc. adhere to the safety standards set forth in NFPA® 306, Standard for the Control of Gas Hazards on Vessels, and 29 CFR 1915, Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Shipyard Employment. Our chemists undergo certification and recertification every five (5) years in accordance with the “Rules for the Certification and Recertification of Marine Chemists”. They are members of the Marine Chemist Association and regularly attend continuing education seminars.
